Hi all,
Some of you may have read my hypothetical posts about a bot like this I made in the past weeks.
As some of the more experienced people around here have suggested, I started it on my own. I made the bot on Pandorabots, since it's a common used host and I have some experience with the site.
What?
The idea is to make a 'super-chatterbot' of sorts, by collaborating with people and communities that have no link with the chatterbot community whatsoever. Different communities (like online fora) each get to program a certain part of a chatbot. This may seem a bit vague, so here is an example:
- the people of a poker forum (help) program(ming) the bot's poker-related in-/outputs - the people of a football forum (help) program(ming) the bot's football-related in-/outputs - etc.
How?
By using a pyramid-like structure.
1 person will have direct access to the chatbot's code. An administrator of sorts. For the moment, I will be this Admin, since I'm the only one working on it atm.
Then there are the 'moderators', who are all assigned to one or more aspects of the bot's character. They are responsible for staying in contact with the communities that are linked to his assigned subject(s) (like poker, football, chess, etc) They transform the info give to them by the communities into AIML code and test it.
Finally, we have the communities themselves. They have to provide the inputs and outputs concerning their subject to the moderator that is assigned to them.
You ****ing egomaniac!
This is not a solo project. Everybody that wants to join the project is welcome, and afterwards (if you can speak of such a time when working on a chatbot ), all participants will get the credit they deserve. For an example: my Admin position isn't "untouchable", if someone thinks he/she is more up to the job than me and wants to do it, just tell me and we will talk about it If there are other people who have joined as well, all of them will be asked for their opinion.
Ah, that sounds better! Where can I join?
Here, by posting in this thread you want to join or by pm'ing the current Admin.
Where can I find updates on this bot?
As long as the Forum Administrators of A.I. Nexus Forum allow it, we will be using this forum to keep all interested up to date.

hey! that sounds like a real cool bot. a knowledgable bot.. more facts than gossip.
I would love to participate but I don't want to learn AIML. I would rather 'tell' the bot some piece of data, then the bot can 'remember' it.
programming a bot isn't as hard as using it.

Have a look at THIS POSTING. One of our resident experts has already prepared something you might be interested in, and... it's free. By the way, AIML isn't all that difficult, and if you use the Training Interface at Pandorabots, a lot of the work is done for you, and it even prevents you from making mistakes.

I'll contribute. First off, I'll perhaps create a better HTML page for the bot
