Human: Hi, What's your name?I have a friend who likes to fix-up old cars. But, he won't touch a bit of rust, pound out a dent, or make any improvements in the car's appearance, until he's repaired every mechanical problem and the car is in top working order.
MyBot: Did you know that chatbots make a great Birthday gift?
With chatbots, as with cars, that can be a never-ending task. Most botmasters prefer to slip back and forth between updating the AIML files, and improving the bot's appearance. However, you can have the best looking bot out there, but if it's unable to hold a conversation, or if its replies are not connected in any way to the visitor's input, you won't have people staying for very long, or recommending it to their friends.
The key to having a responsive bot is to review the chatlogs, and if you have none to start with, then chat with your bot yourself so you have something to look at. It's important that you understand your bot from the visitor's point of view.
