All advice regarding chatbots is not universal, and each chatbot serves a different purpose. However, consider that many of the members here have been botmasters for a long time, and so there's a wealth of experience in this Forum for you to draw upon.
My bots attempt to have, and to maintain, a conversation. Therefore, it's important for me to review the chat logs -- called "conversation logs" at Pandorabots. I look for anyplace that the conversation breaks down but, I pay particular attention to the last exchange, if the chat ends abruptly, without the visitor saying something that equals, "Goodbye."
I start with the shortest chats, and work my way forward into longer and longer chats because I'm looking for that place where the guest just gives up, or tosses out an insult that accuses the bot of being stupid, fake, or in some way, inept.
If I have a lot of traffic, and a lot of logs to review, focusing on the breakdown seems to serve me well.
