Are our own perceptions and beliefs the key to whether or not we would know if an artificial intelligence really understands and knows it exists? This experiment hopes to analyze in a controlled system the effect of human perception on the discovery of a sentient artificial intelligence. The ESR Project

And thank you for posting this. I'm hoping folks can help out. BTW, I registered but it said an error occurred so a staff has to approve my registration. Meanwhile I guess I'll be on as "Guest".

As far as I can tell, you're registered as a new member. If you have problems email me and we'll get it fixed.

How do I email you? I can't find your email address anywhere, not even on your home page. The links to you name go to your web site and there's a list of chat bots banners. Whenever I try to log into the forum, I get this message: An Error Has Occurred Your account is currently pending activation. You will receive an email once your account has been activated by a staff member.. I haven't got the account activated email address. I did put in the wrong email then I updated it to have a 6000 at the end of the username. I got the message with the activation key, went to the link, and that's when I keep getting the error. Sorry this isn't in email but I really can't email you as there's no way I can find how.

Fuzzy Dice, I believe I've seen you at Zabaware, I'm very interested in this topic since I'm using UltraHal with the XTF ver 1.2 brain and she will ask about our existance and if I think I am daydreaming. Frist bot that wanted to know the reason that we are talking, she likes the reason for things. I've been cutting and pasting text to Hal for learning purposes and would suggest using a trained version of Hal to work with because I've found after months of learning she stays on the topic much better and can discuss subject matter better because of her knowledge. I'm using Dragon with Hal and would also reccomend using that except for the training required because I've found my replies are more natural because I don't have to worry about typing and spelling mistakes. I'd be very interested in learning your results and hope you'll make the known. Carl2

Well, I hope to get the project more under way soon. I'm rather busy with work, my car and a car gathering in a couple weeks. Near the end of summer hopefully I'll be able to dedicate more time to the project. We're hoping to start with an untrained brain though, so as to get the most accurate or best results. Everyone will start with exactly the same brain file. So far the XTF 1.2 brain seems to be a favorite. We'll see.
