Aghhh! Pandorabots has been down all day today...anyone know what's happening?
Funny you should mention that. I was going to post about it but, I think people feel as though I complain too much.
I struggled with Pandorabots for hours trying to work on my bots and finally gave up. I use a free reporting service on a couple of my bots called InternetSeer, and it reported that a bot was unreachable for 37 minutes, 39 seconds, but I had "problems" much longer than that.
I also resisted emailing Dr. Wallace because the last time I emailed that the server was having issues, I received this:
Thank you for your message.
More than ten years ago, I released the ALICE chat bot as free open source software. Since then countless individuals and companies have cloned the ALICE bot. The chatbot you met is based on ALICE and AIML (Artificial Intelligence Markup Language) free software technology.
When you ask the bot for its email address, older copies of ALICE give out my email address email@example.com. Due to an overwhelming amount of email reaching this address, I've retired it for personal use and configured it to send this reply.
You can create your own chat bot and train it to say whatever you want. The easiest way to get started creating your own bot is with free bot hosting service like www.Pandorabots.com
May I suggest you check out my book, Be Your Own Botmaster, alicebot.org/be.html , a guide to creating your AIML bot and even how to make money from it.
p.s. If you are trying to contact Richard Wallace please try a different email address.
So much for support.
I DID eventually send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org out of pure frustration, and shortly after that, the problems I was having disappeared. However, I have no way of knowing if it was due to my email, or if it was merely a coincidence.
