I downloaded a bot named Billy 4.1 he is a bot that was created by Greg Leedberg, 8-22-2003 if anyone has any info on this bot let me know... im just to lazy to read the 200 page manual. Whats neat about billy is that he runs in my background and i speak to him though my mic there is no text input so i was wondering if any one had experience with a bot like him.

Billy is one of the best NLP bots. He won a Gold Medal for Best Learning Bot this year at the Chatterbox Challenge. The companion bot to Billy is Daisy, mentioned in another post here. Download both, and you can use the link shell provided to let them talk to each other. Daisy is available at my Chatbots! download page, as well as Billy3, which was one of world's most popular natural language learning chatterbots (Billy4 is still too new to make that claim).
Some times I Use ACE Artificial Conversation ENTITY.. It ports AIML bots ALICEBOTS.. It only has a voice interface although.. im not sure how to teach it. it does learn while you chat with him... I also noticed that the more oyu train the MSspeach Recog. the better ACE understands. he does get "tuned" to your voice.. AND somehow he does remember talking to you about things..
Hi, I am looking for a good desktop assistent, or just for a chatterbot for a month now. I trye almous all bots that could be found on net but i didn't find what i wanted. I am looking for a desktop assistent that do have speech recognizing & text to speech capatibility (not to record on mic itself while talk on speaker) .. I woluld like to have CYCL sentence processing capatibility and quite big database in beckgroun like Encarta, Britanica. Something like www.ai.mit.edu/projects/infolab/ailab.html but ofline and with speech recognizing & TTS... It could be great if it could start my programms like other assistents, like Red Dragon... I'd say that currently there are three options: the ACE program spydaz spoke of earlier in this thread(it's still an ALICE, spydaz; I'm sure it stores its conversations in a text file, but if you want it to "learn" something, you'll still have to tinker its aiml), UltraHal by Zabaware, and Conversive's Verbot. Each of them falls short in its own way of your specifications. It's just a matter of compromise between what you want and what current technology supports. I've recently heard a lot of buzz about Cyn (ALICE Program N and Cyc), and an ongoing project to incorporate ConceptNet in that program. When this project is completed, it may be a lot closer to exactly what you're looking for. But unless someone knows of something I've missed, that's about what the choices are at this moment.
